FAQ's

If your particular question isn't covered or you require further clarification, please contact us and one of our trained advisors will be more than happy to help.

I thought air freight was more expensive than sea freight?

In most cases it is, however if you intend to send only a few items, air freight may well be the more cost effective option. One of our trained advisors will be able to advise you of the options and relevant costs available.

How much notice do I need to give?

To avoid disappointment, please give us as much notice as possible. Ideally two weeks’ notice will be sufficient but should yours be a small consignment then we will be able to arrange something with much less notice if you can be slightly flexible around our other commitments.

When do I pay?

Our terms and conditions state that full payment of all services should be received prior to the collection of your effects. In certain circumstances i.e. when the exact volume for packing and collection is uncertain or when storage in the UK is involved then a deposit will be requested prior to collection with the balance payable prior to the effects departing the UK.

How can I pay?

We accept most forms of payment and accept all major credit and debit cards with the exception of AMEX. Please note that surcharges may apply if paying via card to cover the charges levied to ourselves for managing payments in this manner.

How long will it take for my shipment to reach its destination?

The transit time of a consignment depends entirely on the method used and your chosen destination. Please refer to Freight Services for further information. Regardless of method or destination your dedicated Move Manager will keep you updated along the way.

What items are prohibited from shipment?

Certain items cannot be accepted under general conditions of carriage and storage, e.g. food, cash, bonds, jewellery, alcohol, explosives, flammable gases/liquids/solids, poisons and toxins, scuba tanks, gas cylinders, aerosol cans, plants, pornography, corrosives. Each destination has specific criteria of what not to ship and we would be more than happy to outline this in more detail for you.

Can you store my belongings?

We have the facilities to arrange storage in either the UK or at your chosen destination. Vastly reduced and preferential rates are offered for International shipments and storage charges will be based on the volume to be held. This can be charged for either weekly or monthly dependent on your needs.

As I do not have a destination address, how should I complete this information on the forms?
A lot of people moving abroad do not have a confirmed street address at the time they relocate their possessions. It is imperative though that we have contact details for you in case we need to contact you whilst your goods are in transit. In most circumstances this would entail an email address, contact telephone number and the street address of someone who we could write to and would be able to pass the message to you wherever you may be. Some countries i.e. Australia and the USA request that you have a street address in advance of shipping and in these cases we suggest you speak with one of our trained advisors so that they can advise further.

Who do I contact at destination to find out about my shipment?

In all circumstances, we will email you a copy of our ‘Confirmation of Shipment" that outlines all the relevant information and arrival dates relating to your shipment, as well as the contact details of our appointed partner company at your chosen destination. At the same time as forwarding this information to you we supply your contact and shipment details to our partner company asking them to contact you and introduce themselves at the earliest opportunity. Whilst the responsibility will lie with our partner company to contact you at the relevant time we do encourage you to make contact and introduce yourself as soon as possible.
